The Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Stem Cell Medicine, reNEW has its Hub at the University of Copenhagen (UCPH) as well as nodes at UCPH, Murdoch Children’s Research Institute and Leiden University Medical Center. Researchers within reNEW addresses fundamental questions in stem cell and developmental biology and will pivot research findings to clinical outcomes and products for patients with incurable degenerative disorders such as congenital kidney and heart disorders, type 1 diabetes, Parkinson’s disease and inflammatory bowel disease.

We are recruiting a candidate to establish and support the development of a high-throughput screening platform using intestinal organoids in the group of Professor Kim Jensen. The team focuses on tissue regeneration in the large bowel to gain a better insight into the process of regeneration and to identify new potential therapeutic targets that can enhance the repair process following damage. To achieve this, the group utilises patient derived organoid models, advanced gene editing, state-of the-art transcriptomic as well as screening combined with imaging approaches.

The successful candidate will also be part of the interactive Occupational Health and Safety team at the center coordinating the work of the committee and representing the institute at the collaborative SUND OHS meetings. Both the research and the OHS officer role will be equally balanced at a 0.5FTE position level. The OHS officer role of the position will be actively supported by the experienced laboratory management team helping with implementing policies and activities throughout the institute.

Starting date for this position is the 15th of October 2022, or upon agreement with selected candidate.

Job description:
We are seeking highly motivated and technically skilled candidates with a strong background in cell and molecular biology. Applicants will be preferred with prior experience in stem cell culture, advanced molecular biology and confocal imaging. For the OHS role, we expect either previous experience in OHS or experience with formulating and implementing guidelines and policies aimed at enhancing a healthy work environment in a laboratory setting.

Qualifications:

  • Candidates must have a background as either a technician or hold a master’s degree in biology or similar.
  • Candidates are preferred with a strong background in molecular biology, cell biology and/or live cell imaging.
  • Experience in OHS communication and/or in formulating and implementation of guidelines and policies within a laboratory setting
  • Good English and Danish communication skills, both oral and written, are prerequisite for the successful candidate.

Terms of salary, work, and employment:
The employment is initially a 2-year temporary position and is scheduled to start 15 October 2022 or upon agreement with the chosen candidate. The place of work is at reNEW, University of Copenhagen, Blegdamsvej 3B, Copenhagen.

Salary, pension, and terms of employment will be in accordance with the provisions of the collective agreement between the Danish Government and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations) at the level of Academic Employee or in accordance with the provisions of the collective agreement between the Danish Government and HK (laboratory technician level 5.1).

In addition to the basic salary, a monthly contribution to a pension fund is added and classification will depend on the right candidate’s educational background, experience and qualifications with the possibility of negotiating a qualification supplement depending on experience and qualifications. The working hours are 37 hours a week.
