Communication Officer for reNEW Copenhagen

The Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Stem Cell Medicine, reNEW, based at Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen is looking for a Node Communication and Engagement Officer starting as soon as possible or upon agreement. 

The Center

The Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Stem Cell Medicine, reNEW has its Hub at University of Copenhagen (UCPH), The Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences as well as nodes at UCPH, Murdoch Children´s Research Institute (MCRI) and Leiden University Medical Center (LUMC). Researchers within reNEW address fundamental questions in stem cell and developmental biology and will pivot research findings to clinical outcomes and products for patients with incurable disorders such as congenital kidney and heart disorders, type 1 diabetes, Parkinsons’ disease.

The Role

The reNEW Copenhagen Node Communication and Engagement officer is part of the Node Research Support Team and responsible for coordination of local communication activities with a key focus of internal communication as well as press releases, community building and administrative coordination of engagement events together with the Node’s scientific engagement officer.

In addition, the chosen candidate will be part of developing and driving inter-node and external communication & engagement activities led by the global reNEW Head of Communication and Engagement and in close collaboration with Communication & Engagement officers at the two other reNEW Nodes.

You will report directly to the reNEW Copenhagen Node Research Support Manager and be part of the Node support team who serves the consortium organization in Copenhagen. You will in addition be part of the global Communication & Engagement team with colleagues from the other two nodes, collaborating directly with the global Head of Communication & Engagement of reNEW .

In addition, you will also liaise closely with the Communication Department at the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen.

Job description

  • Coordinate & produce content for internal communication channels such as intra- and internode communication platforms, newsletters and updates.
  • Support content creation for global external media accounts on the internet and on social media
  • Support the development of an online identity for reNEW, including local and global branding as well as the initiation of innovative communication platforms
  • Write and coordinate Node press releases on topics within Stem Cell Medicine
  • Maintain the reNEW Node webpage
  • Be part of developing and organizing local and global public engagement activities aiming towards different stakeholders
  • Coordinate local science communication training and capacity building.
  • Promote local seminars and events and support the organization of community building activities.
  • Liaise with the University of Copenhagen, the Novo Nordisk Foundation, and other local communication stakeholders.
  • Contribute to center-wide internal reporting towards funders and the Faculty.

Qualifications

  • Holds a relevant academic degree or similar experience in communications and/or sciences, preferably with hands on experience in communication in a research or industry setting.
  • Has a strong interest and preferably experience in science communication.
  • Is a well-versed writer and enjoys making scientific concepts understandable for lay audiences.
  • Is proactive, detail-oriented and thrives in a busy team-based environment.
  • Is service-oriented without losing the overview and has a good understanding of people.
  • Is fluent in English and Danish.
  • Preferably has experience in coordination of events and engagement activities.

Salary and terms of employment

The place of work is at the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Stem Cell Medicine (reNEW), University of Copenhagen, Blegdamsvej 3B, Copenhagen.

The employment will be as Special Consultant (Specialkonsulent) or Academic officer (Fuldmægtig) depending on experience and qualifications.

Salary, pension and terms of employment are in accordance with the provisions of the collective agreement between the Danish Government and AC (Danish Confederation of Professional Associations). In addition to the basic salary, a monthly contribution to a pension fund is added (17.1% of the salary).

Working hours are negotiable to accommodate potential additional roles but will be up to 37 hours per week incl. lunch. Accession as soon as possible.
