Professor Keon West is a social psychologist at Goldsmiths, University of London, and a visiting professor at the London School of Economics. His research focuses on identity, prejudice, and intergroup relations, aiming to understand and reduce biases related to race, gender, sexual orientation, and mental health.

Born in Trinidad and raised in Jamaica, West pursued his education in the U.S. and France before earning his doctorate in Experimental Psychology from Oxford University as a Rhodes Scholar. He has published over 75 empirical papers and is known for his work on the contact hypothesis, exploring how intergroup contact can mitigate prejudice.

In 2025, he published The Science of Racism: Everything You Need to Know but Probably Don’t — Yet, a book that synthesizes decades of research on racism and its societal impacts. The book has been praised for its engaging and accessible style, making complex topics understandable to a broad audience.

Beyond academia, Professor West is an active public communicator. He has appeared on platforms like BBC Radio 4, Channel 4, and the Discovery Channel, discussing topics related to prejudice, diversity, and inclusion — subjects he will also address during his talk.
